Baby Back

It was Baby alright. But she was singed, and apparently in a state of shock.

She would not say what had happened to her in the crypt. She would not talk at all. But the impact of whatever she had witnessed had caused her to age dramatically.

The family brought Baby home and ran a hot bath for her in their new bathtub. She washed herself very slowly and then just sat soaking and staring off into an unfathomable distance for a long time.

When Mama realized that the water had gotten cold and Baby was still sitting in the tub, she got her up, toweled her off, and helped her to bed. Baby fell asleep quickly. She had not uttered a single word since they had found her.

The following day, Baby seemed to be feeling like her old self again. She was ravenously hungry and ate continuously.

But the weird thing was that she claimed to have no memory of anything that had happened the previous day.
