Over Hill, Over Dale

When the kids got back to the safe house, they were met outside by a very solemn Ruby.

"You just missed Dr. Noory." she said. "He was here to move us to a new safe house."

"So where is he now?" Bro asked.

"Gone. He said that he didn't dare linger here a moment longer. I told him what you guys were up to and that we could not abandon you. He said that it just wasn't safe here anymore. He said that, if I really wanted to hang around and wait for you, then he would leave Novio with me for protection. Then he left with Mama and Peach."

"Where's Novio?" asked Bro.

"He's inside getting ready."

"Alright then. I'm changing out of this stupid farmer getup. You might wanna change out of that gown too. Let's get what we need and then head for the hills."

A few minutes later, the five of them were high-tailing it out of town.

Bro thought that it would be safer fleeing overland, rather than on the roads.

They ran and ran, taking only short breaks to catch their breath.

Before they knew it, the sky was beginning to lighten in the East.

When the sun rose above the horizon they stopped running. Not one of them had the slightest idea where they were.
